Baptizer of Bulgaria and patron of Slavic literacy.
Knyaz Boris I accepted Christianity around 864–865 and chose Slavic for worship — a decision with centuries-long cultural and political consequences.
Under his protection, Cyril and Methodius’s disciples developed literary schools, making Bulgaria a center of Slavic civilization.
